Re: Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades (NLFer)
Full exhaust, cam swap and tune and some weight reduction is about all you can do easily. After that you start getting into tearing apart the motor or turboing.

Re: Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades (1.5Slowmatic)
now when you say tune what do you mean by that ?....the ECU?....do you think it's even worth doing these upgrades to a 1.6 vtec?

ok, i had this question a while back too, well i was basically told the same thing. there is a few small things you can do to increase your speed, ecu chips work nicely, depending on laws in your area hollow out your catalytic converter, louder but more power. cheap electric supercharger, your only talkin $20-$30 and 2-3 psi each.

ECU sounds like a good idea but i don't know about the catalytic converter i don't want to mess with emissions.......and WTF is an electric supercharger ??...do you have a link or soemthing ?

Re: Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades (dillonG_B)
on D series your not gonna gain much power without a complete motor build ie...high compression pistons/FI, your much better off with a swap, you can get a complete GSR swap for $2500 from hmotorsonline.com

no
IMO if your gunna swap go H series while everything is out
they have the most torque out of the little Vtec 4 cylinders aside from the F22c/F20c

The OP is talking to nix94delsol about an H22.
When I came into this thread I read "Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades". Alot of people in here obviously don't know what that means..
Your best bet for power increase on a VTEC D16Z6 is I/H/E and chipping your ECU. And if you are driving an automatic, then convert it to manual! Also if you are willing enough, then piece together a bolt-on turbo kit, I've seen it done on fairly cheap budgets.

Can you show me where the OP says H22 in any of his posts please? I can't find it anywhere. It's nix94delsol that suggests his opinion on what swap he would do. Shown below.

Don't be a smartass, in NLFer's last post he was acutally talking about H22's having needed custom mounts in order for them to swap in, he then later edited it as you can see. >>>

So I'm a smartass because I came into this thread after he edited and I'm supposed to be a physic and know what he edited? Alright dude.
I don't even know why your arguing with me. OP asks if a GSR is a direct fit. nix94delsol says no. And I question it. Get lost man.

Yeah, thats true. Just need some mounts, axles, shift linkage, ect. But there is no modification needed.

Re: Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades (nix94delsol)
True, and the ecu regardless. The op have been referring to a "direct swap" if thats the case then it would be because of not having to hack stuff up like a k20 swap. but still

anyone actually try those electric superchargers? i hear they actually cause major air restriction at high rpm. if they actually work, might be amusing.

Re: Affordable and not a pain Peformance upgrades (HondamanXxX)
Aside from an ECU, axles, and mounts I think any B-Series swap is a direct fit.
An H22 requires custom welding for the passenger-side mount, custom axles, custom work for the shifter and linkages and maybe some other things.
