AEM V2 vs Regular Cold air intake for B18
Is the V2 really that much better to be a hundred dollars more? Anyone have any stories about these?

That is awesome! I appreciate the whole do it your self home made ****! However, I figure that AEM probably has some highly paid engineers that tune these things for optimal performance for a particular engine. So as easy and cheap as it would be to duct tape some toilet paper tubes together and stretch a gym sock over the end with a rubber band and make an intake system, I just don't want to go that rout. I would rather pay more to have it done right.

I have to agree about it being the filter, i have owned both the aem v2 and the iceman on my b18c and cannot really tell the difference other than the sound. I also owned a cheap intake but it was quiet compared to the other two. The filter on the v2 is really big that is probably what gives it the little bit extra hp numbers but i dont think it is worth 200+ dollars.

Sorry riced out. Missread what you said, so many smart *** cats on here sometimes I get a little defensive. I agree though, they really give it to you good when you buy an intake from these bastards.

x2... thats all you ever pay for now a days is the name. It is nice to have a C.A.R.B certified intake though to keep the cops from sending you to BAR if you happen to get pulled over

Re: AEM V2 vs Regular Cold air intake for B18 (RF DOOM)
I had the regular AEM cold air intake (not the v2) on my car. It was awsome, the sound was incredible. I didn't even want an exhaust because it sounded so good by itself. I got an exhaust though, and now I can hear it anymore and I'm wishing I never got the exhaust. I don't think the short ones sound as good and they don't produce as much power. The AEM is expensive but I think it is something that is worth it compared to some of the cheap knock off ****. But then again, I don't have a dyno either.

Re: (turb20_vtec)
As long as your fender liner is intact most of the spashes and **** will stay out. What you have to worry about is driving through a big ******* puddle or a small pond. If you submerge the filter in water then you are in for some ****. The V2 and the cold air intake do not have a bypass, you have to buy the hybrid one or buy it separate. I have a cold air on my civic and have been using it all winter long in the pouring rain, filter is fine with no problems.

one of the things you get when you purchase a aem intake is they have a coat of protective heat paint on all of there intakes. It keeps the air some what cooler compared to ebay intakes...
