AEM Fuel Rail Fitment Problem! Help
I bought a used fuel rail for a d-series engine. I have a 97 HX (d16y5) engine and the end of the fuel rail is hitting the circled part. It looks like to me this fuel rail isn't for my engine. The bolts would line up if that black thing...don't know what its called wasn't there.
What is the thing called that's circled in the 1st and 4th pic? Can that be moved to the opposite side of the fuel rail?
Check out the pics.
What do you guys think? My car is in pieces right now...

The black thing is your EGR valve....can you not put your FPR in the other big whole that's on the top side of the rail?

What's the EGR Valve do?
Whatever that thing is called (what you thought was the FPR), can that be moved to the opposite side of the fuel rail?

Damn I dont know what that big round thing is with the plug on top, but can you relocate that? That would fix your problem.

are you talking about the EGR valve or the thing on the side of the fuel rail?

That big funny looking nut is a fuel pressure damper. Takes the pulses waves out, that are caused by the injectors firing.
Damn, that fuel rail is way longer than the stock one! WTF!

Re: (mike93eh)
I decided to leave on the stock rail and I put on the AEM FPR. Works fine. This fuel rail is obviously not for my car. I called AEM/DC Sports and they said it was for a Civic EX, 96-00. At least, that's what I think the tech guy said, he had a heavy hispanic accent.

Explain. I know it's not giving me any power, but how is it hurting it?

im not gonna explain it in great detail, since you can search for the answer. but there needs to be vacuum there, thats why the hose needs to go from the valvecover to the intake arm.

I don't know, I did some searching and this thread told me that a breather didn't affect anything.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=697498
I found all the "it's bad for you motor" threads, but it was all backed up with talk and therioes. The test ran by dasher showed the same vacum pull through a filter and through the intake at idle and low load. At high load, air was being pushed through the valve cover, so a breather will prevent that from going into the intake tract.
I don't mean to threadjack, but I really would like a concrete answer on the subject one way or another.
Bottom line, a catchcan is the best slolution, but if a breather isn't harmful to the engine, it shouldn't be said that it is. my $.02

The spot where the valve cover breather connects to on the intake does not see vaccum. If it saw vacuum, you'd suck the air out. You only want it to breathe. The only time breathers are bad, is if you let them get dirty where they wont allow pressure to build up in the engine.

Re: (Marauder)
Marauder is a god.
So if I read it right, the PVC system is for US emissions purposes and actually hurts our engine slightly. Having a breather filter there actually helps the engine a little, but is worse for the enviroment by expelling gases?
