My buddy of mine is selling some aem gears, verision 1, 3 bolt one, which have very low miles and are in really good conidtion. i was under the impression that these are prone to slipping. im going to be running 450+ hp with like 20 pounds of boost. anyone have any knowledge on this matter. thanks alot.

A lot of people use them and have no problems at all with them slipping. When I had them, they slipped, so I won't use them again.

I'd never use them, but then again, there's only one brand that I would use - ST Corsa.

ya, AEM cam gears suck. OBX makes 5 bolt ones and they aren't overly expensive. But anything with 5 bolts will be far better than the AEM ones.

Had problems with AEM when I had them on my civic. I have JUN cam gears now on my Del Sol. I say go with JUN or HKS.

I had an AEM 3 bolt cam gear. It slipped. I had a socket/allen just for it on my 3/8" torque wrench and I torqued it down correctly too. Slipped over time, Luckily it didn't bend any valves.

The one thing I haven't heard anyone say yet was if they used any loctite on their adjusting bolts before they torqued them properly. I believe that may have prevented them from slipping.

Agreed. Proper torque and some Loc-Tite should keep them from misadjusting themselves over time. It's not like you have to adjust them more than once after a dyno session anyway.

anything with a 4 or 5 bolt. Findanza or new AEM or Unorthodox. They slip worse on single cam cars.
