Default advice on a turbo setup

I am17 years old and i love my honda! i am the only person that goes to my school that has a honda/acura besides rich kids with their new civics bc they think they look cool and a kid with an auto ls integra. i have been called out by all the kids at school with their big body caprices and their built 350's....i want to turbo my car but i need some help/advice. i already have an intercooler(6.5 inches tall, the fins are 17 inches wide, over all width is 27 inches, and 5 inches thick), i have 310 injectors, turboxs rfl bov, and a t3t4 turbo....what other parts do i need besides a manifold and waste gate? im looking at a top mount manifold and waste gate now so i might get that. right now in my car i have a mini me swap, d15b7 with a z6 head. should i keep that in there and turbo that with the stock internals or get somethig else. keep in mind that i am working parttime and going to school so i dont have 5000 dollars buy a new motor to swap in.anybody have advice for me?

what kinda injectors are those? brand? 310 isnt enough and if planning to boost 6 lbs that turbo is way to big for a sohc

Wewt for the newb + high school kid with a kickass ride.

I agree with turbo, you'll want to run a smaller turbo with that engine.

Faster spool, more Horsies and mid range than a t3t4. You're not going to rev high enough to get max boost out of that.

The injectors look jacks from anothjer car. May want new ones and run 350's.

You're pieced together kit is good for 10lbs with a smaller turbo and a good tune. You'll be able to whoop up. Besides, the turbo is a really cool showoff noise.

just an fyi, if the kids are running fully built s/c 350's a turbo on a stock sohc probably won't win you any races. not trying to be negative, but unless they aren't fully built, or they really really really cant drive AT ALL, then you wont stand a chance

lol, i agree, most high school kids cant drive. there are 3 kids at my school including me that can actually drive "well". And by that I mean controlled at high speeds and know how to launch/shift, lol. I've actually had the ability to park on school property revoked because I slid through the parking lot on a wet morning and the campus security saw me . But to the point, if they are just 350's w/ some upgrades, you should stand a chance. If they are in a truck, you should take em no problem. But fully built......I doubt.

Yeah no parent is going to put a built 350 in their kids car. Those motors go for bank. If any of them drive manuals a mis-shift would ruin the motor bad.

exactly. i honestly dont understand what parent would give their kid a fast car for their first car......its just asking for **** to happen. 200hp is about as much as i would give my kid, unless of course its a truck, but thats a different story.

but, if i were you, i would open up the block, replace the rods and pistons and then turn up the boost a bit, and give those guys a run for their money

well your definitely gonna need a chipped ecu, then with that your going to need it tuned, either by a tuner (which is going to cost $) or by you (which means a wideband along with datalogging software which is also going to cost $). on top of that you need to know how tune your car if you go along the lines of tunning by yourself

ok...lol well to clear up the whole 350 thing. there six guys that have big body caprices on 22's, and stuff like that, way too heave to be that fast, all they do is stomp the gas and spin the tires. but im not worried about them i have faith in my car, i have a p28 ecu right now in my car...so thats a plus i guess bc i know you can chip them. about the turbo, what size do u recomend? i dont want like a 15b turbo..i can get a t3 i know thats not much smaller but i can get on of those. umm.. also does 450 injectors sound about right? bare with e i dont know much but thats why im on here asking for help instead of diving to a performance shop and just handing them money and not knowing whats really in my car. all advice is appreciated. thanks guys keep it comin!

In response to ek forever guy's post.....Bank???? the 350's probably one of the cheapest motors to build... they've been around forever and there are a rediculous number of parts for them, this is coming from personal experience with the 350 i had in my 1994 GMC Sierra before i bought my del sol (big change i know lol especially cuz the truck was lifted and my del sols slammed) Check this budget build out.... http://www.popularhotrodding.c...uild/ "we made 445 lb-ft and 447 hp for $3,463.85 from a 350-inch, pump-gas, late-model Vortec junkyard core."

Dont listen to the naysayers. I believe you could definitely snag some wins with your set up. Just a few suggestions: You need bigger injectors and a high-flow fuel pump (dont want to lean out), invest in a wideband, if you are low on bucks then go with a free engine mgmt software (Chrome). As for the turbo, yours is too big. If you want quick spool up with little lag go for a .48 trim. I think this would probably be ideal for you since it sounds like you want to run low boost and dont want to reinforce your bottom end. I have seen stock mini-me setups run almost 250hp. IMO that would be toeing the line, seeing as this is your DD. Just have fun and dont kill anyone.

.48 trim turbo and 8-10 lbs on stock internals should be fine. How many miles are on the motor? Compression test? Leakdown?

compression is 220 on cylinders 1,2, and 4, and 210 on 3. not too bad imo. ummm...i have no clue how many miles the bloxk has on it, but the head has maybe 750 miles on it, it had just come from getting polished when i got it\, although it is stock. and what exactly is a leakdown? ive never heard of it before

thanks!! keep it comin

is anyone in the same situation?
trying to make your DD a decently quick car on a low budget? is so let me know what your set up is!

The motor sounds like it's in terrific condition. Do a search for daily setups in the FI forum. It's a steady moving forum and people are boasting their setups all the time in there.
