Default Advice on Buyin a used exhaust.

I have a friend selling me a cat back exhaust. What should I look for besides dents, rust, etc. Do after market exhausts come with bolts (his has none), do they come with gaskets (to go between the pipes), where would I get gaskets to match up? Thanks for any help. By the way it's a Greddy

You named everything you should check. Shake it and see if it rattles inside of the muffler. I would recommend new gaskets.

Check for dents and what all else you said, Greddy is , How much you paying? You will need bolts if your stock ones are rusty

bolts and gaskets

also make sure there aren't any cracks anywhere. your exhaust will sound like *** if it has a leak

Stainless pipes will last a life time. I would be worry of the stuff inside the can. Water is the by product of the cat. And water may gather and sit in the can until it's blown out/dryed heat by the exhaust. I do not know about the material, wire mesh, etc inside a Greddy, but that would be my only concern about buying a used muff.

If it's an excellent price, and you know the car that used it, then go for it. But I would not pay "the fair price" because you really can't see the "wear and tear" inside the can. What shine on the outside may be shot inside.

Yup make sure not rattle but you got most of it, New gaskets are a good idea too.

Thanks everyone! ! ! I appreciate the help...one more question though, where would I go to get new gaskets? Greddy themselves? Any recommendations on vendors you know that might carry them? You guys/gals are the best
