Adjusting Distributer on EG. engine running hotter than before...
Hi.
I had a problem before where engine would crank but wouldnt start...
After replacing sparkplugs (needed to be replaced anyway) and distributor, the car is running fine.
Only problem I have is that the engine seems to be running little bit hotter than before, and I feel more vibration from the engine.
Before, the normal operating temperature was 1/4 on the temp gauge.
Now, the normal operating temperature is about 2/5.. close to halfway point.
I drove it for an hour on a highway and the temp is holding steady.
I think it might be an issue with distributor not lined up perfectly as before?
Do I need to advance (clockwise) or retard(counter clockwise) the distributor to lower the temperature?
Should I not even do this and get timing gun instead?

2/5 to 1/2 is about right on stock cluster gauge for a normal running engine with no mods... those gauges are not very accurate though.. if you wanna see the real temperature, isntall a more accurate gauge...
you're fine, don't worry about it.. just that your motor wasn't running correctly prior to you replacing the distro

I agree with civic_driver about that being normal. But did you adjust the timing with a timing gun after you replaced the dist? If not you should
