Adding exhaust resonator and also does position affect sound?
Hi does adding a resonator in your system quieten it down or does it just change the note/tone?
Because currently my exhaust is too loud and I want to quieten it down. I've already got 1 resontor and a N1 style straight through muffler. I want to add an extra resonator. Will this make my car more quiet?
Cheers

Also im pondering if the position of where you install the resonator affect the sound level?
Like would placing the resonator right after the headers quieten the car down more than say placing it towards the end of the exhaust system???

A resonator will do both of those things--quiet the volume and change the tone. Usually, the addition of a resonator makes the tone deeper and less high-pitched. I'm not sure about the positioning and its relevance, but most times it's welded in after the cat.

Yeah right now the tone is really deep. The car vibrates. All the panels and seat inside the car feels like its virbrating. Hopefully adding a resonator will stop this.

I just added one and I want my deepness back. I had to because of my apartments, but other than that I hate it. I acutally like the loudness of my muffler but in a good way. Sorry had to rant.

I changed from a relatively quiet muffler to a N1 muffler and jesus, it really makes you appreciate quiet mufflers. My ears ring after 20minutes of driving. I've had the new muffler for 2 days and I cant handle it, its driving me insane, hence im gonna fit another resonator.

if your muffler has a silencer that will really reduce the tone of the muffler, some mufflers come with silencers that you can just pull out or put in after loosening a couple of screws
