ACT vs EXEDY clutch
Which is the best or if they are good for different reasons say "it depends on what you're looking for"
and if it depends on what i'm looking for "i want smooth operation and reliabilty"

Re: ACT vs EXEDY clutch (jovial111)
I didn't vote only because I have no experience with the two but I am buying a exedy clutch only because of the cost on EBAY....

Re: ACT vs EXEDY clutch (jovial111)
I would say ACT, I have a few friends with ACT and they seem to be a decent performing clutch. Although, the price for EXEDY is DAMN good on ebay! I havn't heard anything about 'em though. I know they're huge in Japan though... I guess they are one of the main OEM clutches over there.

Exedy will give you smoother operation, but i don;t knwo about reliability compared to ACT because I have never used an ACT for long enough, but I like Exedy

that is correct. the 100 dollar ones are just stock OEM replacement clutch kits. if you take out your stock clutch it will say exedy on it. not honda.
the upgraded exedy clutches are good but i honestly like the ACT HD/SS set-up
i have it in my b18c1 and it is very smoothe. holds great, but not one bit chattery or harsh. great for a daily driver or a car used for the track that does not make a LOT of tq.

reliability shouldn't be a problem as long as you get the right clutch for the job. Exedy is the race division of Daikin. Daikin is responsible for most import OEM clutches. There are also multiple exedy clutches just like ACT clutches.
Organic OEM Replacement - $100 on ebay
Organic Racing (comparable to ACT HDSS) - $200+
Exedy Ceremetallic - $350+
Anybody complaining about an Exedy clutch probably bought the wrong one for their application. I went with the exedy organic racing for my d-series (haven't installed it yet). I even talked with an ACT representative about the clutch. They even said that the Exedy d-series clutches were very good. Just have to do your homework and get the one that suites your application.
