Default Accessory wired to CEL wire comes on when CEL goes off insted of on...?

I had nothing better to do, so i took the shift buzzer out of my Rx-7 parts car and tried wiring it in my Civic. I soldered everything in, turned the key, buzzed for a split second, shut off as the CEL was on, then started buzzing and wouldn't shut off. I haven't tried starting the car (it's not startable at the moment), but i doubt it'd change anything.

Why is it doing the exact opposite of what i want it to do? It's grounded through the ground for the cluster, i also tried grounding it directly to the chassis, no difference.

because the ECU grounds the wire to turn on the CEL.
to correct it hook the other side of the buzzer to 12v not ground.

also pray you never have a problem where you CEL turns on, that buzzer will drive you insane after a few miles. (I'd install a switch just in case)

Okay, since i didn't sleep last night, i don't remember what i just did, but i tried it hooked negative to 12v power and positive to the CEL signal, same result, maybe it was positive hooked to 12v and negative to the CEL. I don't know, i gave up, but i tried both of those, i just remember the results weren't what i wanted.

I don't understand that friggin' light.

the negative of the light needs to be connected to the ECU side and the positive to the power side.
there is probably a diode in the buzzer to prevent power backfeed.

the same way (pos - neg) you had it connected to the battery cables in the vid.

Yeah, i don't get why it wouldn't work, but i tried both negative to positive and positive to negative. I believe the first time i had it backwards accidentally and it did nothing, i checked and i had it backwards, so i hooked it 12v to power, ground to CEL signal, it still for some reason worked backwards.

Makes no sense to me how it worked in the first place backwards with the signal wire hooked to positive and negative to ground, yet it still worked exactly the same way when it was wired opposite.

The red wire into the gauge cluster on the 12pin connector.
