Ac compressor stalled car
My brother gave me his old 2000 Honda civic Dx.(147,000 miles on it) They car got no love. I started by getting some new tires cause they were bald. I noticed a grinding noise come from under the hood so I checked the oil and it was really low. So I gave it a oil change. The noise was still there. The car stalled out on me that night and I pushed into a gas station and called a tow truck. The drive tried to start it while o looked under the hood and seen sparks coming from the AC compressor. The next day I looked and seen there was 3 belts on the car (one only for the AC) so I cut the AC belt and it works fine. I just don't know how to start on fixing the AC if the compress isn't working. It's like the pulley is seized and won't let the motor turn. I don't wanna have to buy a whole new compressor if I don't have too. Is there a way to troubleshoot the compressor, clutch or bearing with out a belt running the compressor? I'm new to working on a honda/newer cars. I'm use to old hot rods
