99 Si - Will any 96-00 coupe axle back exhaust bolt right up?
The muffler completely rusted off of my 99si. I need to find a stock axle back, but it's very hard around here. I found a stock ex axleback from a 96-00 (guy doesn't know) for dirt cheap. Will any 96-00 coupe axle back bolt right up? I think I once read that the si is 2" and the other models are 1.75", but will the axle back section of any 96-00 2 door coupe work for me? I need this asap. A new oem si axle back is $200 at Honda...
THANKS!!
THANKS!!

It should bolt right up, Si or not I was always under the impression that all ek piping is 2" stock.

I found one locally for dirt cheap and cancelled my order with Honda. Even if the piping is a bit smaller, the bottleneck shouldn't hurt anything since it's a bone stock motor, right? I don't wanna burn up the cat.

Can someone confirm if all ek piping is 2" or not? I have heard yes and I have heard no. Is the only difference between a 1999 ex coupe axle back and a 1999 si coupe axleback the muffler itself?

It will fit no modifications needed. I've put the complete piping from a 99 si onto a 99 ex already and it worked fine.

Just needed a stock exhaust and piping. And I'm not sure, because the car originally had a fart can.I'm pretty sure the piping size is the same. Even if it is bigger, i still don't think it will make any difference in performance. lol.

The only difference between an EJ8 muffler (coupe or sedan) and an EM1 muffler is the EM1 one came with an exhaust finisher (tip) standard while the EX got it as an option.
They're the same. They'll bolt up to the other trim/chassis just fine.
The difference with 6G Civic mufflers (in the US) comes only when it's a hatchback. One of those would fall short on a coupe/sedan. The coupe/sedan mufflers are the same, but would be too long on a hatch.

All I know is I had an Si muffler on my EX coupe for awhile. Not that I was looking for anything different. I was just looking for a muffler that wasn't rusted out.
It worked just fine.
It worked just fine.

While this wouldn't work on a muffler too well, you can electrically remove rust from metal parts and then paint them. The key is getting ALL the rust off. Rust is cancer, a little can make a big mess.

Defnitely it can help with slight rust and surface rust, but the OP said his muffler rusted off. LOL Been there.
