99 civic LX auto D4 light blinking!
i searched and searched and cant find a answer to this. i drive this car to work everyday the way it is right now, and it sooo annoying.
the car had a y7 in it, i took out the y7, and put in a y8, kept the tranny in the car, put the new motor in, and wired it all up. now as soon as i turn my key on, the d4 light blinks, the car wont move in d4, and i have to shift it manually from 2nd to 3rd. thats the only gears i have.
speedometer works, as does the tach.
what doesnt make sense, is that even if i reset the ecu, and erase all the codes with the obdII scanner, as soon as i turn the ignition on power, it already starts blinking before the car is even on.
so my guess is something electrical, but idk what it could be. i checked all the wires and i found one clip dangling in the front of the trans, but i cant seem to find out where it goes, all the other clips are plugged in, and there are no sensors that are not plugged in. someone have a diagram that shows where all the shift solenoids are located, as well as the linear solenoid? please excuse my noobness, i have no clue when it comes to auto transmissions.

Sounds like your Range sensor/PRNDL Sensor is faulty or needs to be adjusted. I would check your wiring and make sure you re-attatched your shifter cable correctly.

I tried using the p2p and the p2a. Both do the same thing and why would I need to adjust it if the transfer was never removed?

Y7 automatics wont shift right with a Y8 ECU, it will throw a mainshaft sensor code eventually (sometimes it can take a couple of weeks to show up) and it will shift erratically. If you want it to shift right you'll need an automatic Y8 tranny.

that doesnt explain why it still doesnt operate right with the y7 ecu though!
