Re: 99 civic hatch b20v
cam timing off? sounds like the engine is turning and you have ZERO compression. Verify if the engine is actually turning over or not. If not, then the bendix gear on the starter is not engaging the flywheel. auto starter on manual trans maybe? If it is engaging and turning over, then cam timing is off.

my buddys teg did the same thing when we put in his new motor turned out there was no key ways in the cams gear an just the cams gear were spinning an not the cams them self.

Yeah I had a single starter on it changed it out already...timing was way off adjusted now and it sounds alot better...it cranks but don't want to turn over.

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v
the 'best" way: via a spark plug/HEI tester but on the go if you have a spare plug pull one of wires/coils put the plug it ground it(lay it on the VC) try starting it and look for the purple spark seeing as it's night time this should be rather easy just be carfull that you'r not touching the frame you'll be fine sitting in you'r seat. just curious do you have a fuel pressue gauge ? are the plugs wet with fuel after cranking ?

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v
I think I'm not getting any spark...I took number 1 spark plug wire and and shoved a screwdriver into and onto the valve cover then I tried to start it and didn't c any spark? I checked all 3 grounds are good and dizzy is good...brand new oem spark plug wires with new ngk spark plugs...any other suggestion?

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v
That's not the smartest thing to do. you've got to use a plug heck if you really don't have a spare pull one from the cyl will work also just not as good as using a spare.

i had an issue like this fuse 15 was blown may not be you'r case but have a look it's the ecu fuse in the box in the engine bay look at the 7.5 one also.

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v - won't start
Since I'm not using a gsr manifold anymore u think I can just completely eliminate it? Or just leave it plugged n zipped tied somewhere

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v - won't start
if you are running obd1 then just unplug it and you're done.
if it is obd2 then just hook it up and hide that ugly sob outta the way! regardless of manifold, if it is obd2 then you need to leave it connected to not get a cel

I'm gonna run a jump down harness to obd1...and what about the pcv outlet on the manifold? Do I just plug that up n leave it to?

Re: 99 civic hatch b20v - won't start
shouldn't even have to plug it since it has a ball valve in it and it only opens when u try to suck thru it otherwise the vacuum of the motor will keep it closed so just cut the hose off of it and ur done same as mine
