99 Civic EX JDMH22AG2 swap
I'm thinking about swapping a JDMH22AG2 into my 1999 Civic EX. The only problem I've heard of with this swap is some understeer due to the increase in engine weight. Anybody know of any other potential problems I could run into? Also, any suggestions you may have on another swap that might be less problematic would be greatly appreciated

The H22 is about 100lbs heavier than a B-series, but if you're using it in a street car, the understeer will be negligable. I've ridden in H22 EG's and it's not a big deal, but a more cost effective swap would be a B-series (SEARCH!).

Well, really the only two I'm considering for the swap besides the H22 are a JDMB18CG2 or maybe a JDMB16B, but so far the H22 is about $700-$1200 cheaper.

Even though the h22 may seem to be cheaper, the price will get up their after purchasing a reputable set of mounts, and some new axles.

Just throw in an LS motor and boost it. You will be much happier.
EDIT: Almost forgot, with the H22, if your car is lowered, the bottom of the header will hit the ground.

I mean its a nice Idea and all, but personally I wouldnt spend the money on a h22a swap, for one, I fear of axles breaking, 2 its a heavy *** swap, and three...and three...well theres no three, BUT if I didnt have to worry about the axles breaking then I would do it.

Do any of you guys actually have an H22 swap? It doesn't sound like any of you do?
1. For all of you talking about axle breakage, you don't think LS turbo cars will have the same problem? I broke 6 axles in my GSR, and I've only had one break in my hatch. If the swap is done right with the right quality parts you won't have a problem whatsoever.
2. The price for the full swap is around the same as a c5 swap, so keep that in mind when you price everything out. Even though the motor is cheaper, there are more parts to purchase when installing the motor.
3. As for header clearance issues, I haven't had any problems or scrapage whatsoever. My header has never touched the ground and my car is pretty low. However, the DC header (which is crap for the H22 anyways) does hang low to the ground on the H22 swap.

Re: (JDMH22HATCH)
Besides these items that will be included with the swap:
5-Speed Manual Hydraulic Transmission
Engine Control Unit (ECU)
Wiring Harness
Distributor
Intake Manifold
Exhaust Manifold
Alternator
Air Conditioning Pump
Power Steering Pump
Vtec Solenoid
Half Shaft (Intermediate Shaft)
and LSD which I can get for a good price, what other parts will I have to buy for the full swap? Also, JDMH22HATCH...what header would you recommend for the H22 then? And what is your opinion/experience of the reported understeer problem?

If you buy a complete swap, it should come with almost everything you listed. If you want to run P/S and A/C though, you will need to get the HCP relocation brackets. You will need both the civic and prelude harnesses so you can splice and extend the wires together for the swap. As for ecu, you can use either a p13, p28, or p72. Its all up to you and your preference. As for a header, I highly recommend the AN-R header, but Hotshot and Image Engineering have some great stuff as well.
