99 Civic DX D16Y7 Seeking for some extra power
Hi, it's my wife car as a daily commutes car, but I would like to get some extra power out of it to get better excellerates for changing lanes and power to climb some hills, as i took it to las vegas once. So muffler is a no no, trying to keep it stock not noticable to cops. I was thinking about header and intake, but the issue I have is my catalic converter is right where the header is, so if i put header on i have to run without header? any recommend on header? which is cheap and give the most power. also about the intake, the intake manifold i have is the box with filter on top of it so the hole is facing up toward the hood unlike other intake face side way, so I kinda worry about ordering a wrong intake which most of them are side way. thanks and help pointing out which i should get. and I'm planing to get all the parts from ebay. also when ever i turn headlight on or ac car shakings looking for electrics! but I just replaced battery, connector, iridium spark plug and wires, add more ground wires from chassis to engine.
thanks in advance....

The y7 wasnt really made for power upgrades, I own one myself. You can swap the trans for a y8 5 speed. Is the car a manual trans?
You can put an EX header but you will have to get the EX cat and B-pipe. It just relocates all the exhaust plumbing. Then you will have to extend the 2nd O2 sensor

not much is going to help the y7 exspecially if its a auto. best thing you can do for chep is a 5 spd swap for about 600

Edelbrock makes a smog legal turbo kit , it's not cheap , but it's low psi is perfect for a auto tran with AC
I've seen the kit on sale at various merchants for $3k
not much you can do for a Y7 on the cheap for any considerable gains
bigger exhaust , but would your girlfriend hate the sound?
CAI , would your girlfriend drive through 1-2 feet of water without thinking about it?
The Edelbrock kit is girlfriend proof and will give you considerable gains, but at $3k you could swap a B series in there with more future potential
Sell the car and get an Accord V6
