you will have a problem, you need to do the whole conversion in order to put the front bumper on.

You should be alright w/o the 99/00 bumper support. Just need the 99/00 bumper, grille, headlights, hood, and fenders.

i dont get why ppl do that ish. If you want that year so bad go out and buy a car that has it. Just stick a greddy front lip or ctr lip on the front and back and itll look tight as hell. personally i think its a waste and i like the 96-98 front end look better. Kind of a wide mouth look. idk, sorry thats my thoughts...

yeah, do what i did
anyways, like the other peeps said, its not just "plug and play" install. Gonna need to do some minor fabrications for everything to look perfect.

ARGH! i hear you need the support, you dont need the support, it fits perfect, it doesnt fit perfect, blah blah blah. has there ever been a cold hard write up of this?
i am doing this converision exactly 2 weeks from today. i will do a write-up on this and get to the bottom of it.
and then i will beg tom to make it a sticky

99 si bumper will fit on any 96-00 coupe with no mods, they are the same.
and coupes > hatches, just because i don't have a hatch

No, you can use a '99 coupe rear bumper on a '97 coupe. Likewise, all coupe and sedan rear bumpers are interchangeable from 1996-2000, if anyone cared. There's a misconception going around that the sedan rear bumper is longer than the coupe. I have personally switched rear bumpers with a friend who owns an EM1, and I have an EJ8 sedan. They worked fine. (He bought a '96-'98 OEM rear lip and wanted to see how it'd look on his car.)
