99-00 JDM Conversion
So my girl friends retarded mom just backed into my 97 civic coupe that i bought 2 weeks ago. The good thing is she is paying to have it fixed. So now i'm thinking about buying the jdm ek 99-00 front bumper off passwordjdm.com. Will i have any troubles with getting this to fit right?

Re: 99-00 JDM Conversion (DC2man)
There isn't any difference in the USDM and JDM front ends for '99-'00 Civics. The only thing is the lip, grill and sidemarker on the fender.
To do the '99-'00 front end conversion, you'll need the hood, bumper, fenders, headlights and radiator support.

So what did you do...zip tie the bumper to the radiator support?

chill out turbo. All you have to do is notch the bumper on each side next to the grill so it will slide on and fit right

^^Incorrect. The bumper, lip, and grill on a CTR is the same as an EM1. The only difference is the headlights from a CTR have citylights and a gunmetal casing vs chrome USDM, and of course the sidemarkers are different.
To go the cheapest way, I say pick up a 99-00 bumper, hood, and headlights off of some car in a junkyard, order the password JDM sidemarker fenders (they're cheap and fit great,) and find an OEM front lip in the classifieds or something.
The only thing you need to find now is the Si mesh grill, which you can probably find in the classifieds as well for cheap.

Re: (CTRwannabe)
Say no to 99-00 conversions. If it was already a 99-00 front then I would suggest doing a CTR front. Since yours is a 97, I would do the SiR bumpers and lip.

Well, to be a bit more technical, the fenders on the JDM Civics also have an indentation for the sidemarker. So it's not just quite as easy as popping sidemarkers onto your USDM fenders, though it will fool most.

So I keep being told, but I've also been told that they share the same part number (sometimes part numbers match according to paint color - if they come painted from Honda). Sometimes the exact same parts will have different part numbers for different countries though.
Either way, both lips look the same to me. I have been told that the CTR lip is "chunkier" than the Si lip.

Sometimes, in the import community, it feels like the '96-'98 front is a dying breed just because so many people do the conversion.

Fog lights are optional on both trims. So they shouldn't even be mentioned unless you start mentioning other optional parts.
The fog lights are in fact optional on all trims.
