99-00 front end on 96-98 coupe.. Fitment issues w/ bumper
I am attemping to install the 99-00 front end on my 96 Coupe, and everything has gone smothly except for the front bumper cover. The cover doesn't seem like it wants to slide over the exsisting "bumper", its like its hitting up aginst the plastic support that you screw the bottom license frame bracket to, and a few tabs that are on the back side of the lower grill. Before I do any trimming, I want to know if my bumper is out of wack (and if you can fix it) or if something is screwy with my cover, or if both.
Thanks
Thanks

From what I seen the 96 coupe hood is diffrent from the 99-00, and also if the hood is diffrent, then the fender and the front bumper would be diffrent also would it? it would be a bad Idea to force it if it doesn't fit. If you want to make it fit try changing the whole front end.

pound in the corners of your metal bumper, and hammer down the edge of the two tabs where the bumper clips in (not where the grill clips in).
Or do it the right way and put on a 99-00 metal bumper.

The only thing I remember modifying was the bumper cover where it meets the upper radiator support. We had to make a some little notches where the support was hitting the bumper cover. My memory is a bit hazy as the conversion was done back in 1999 so I could be wrong.
I don't remember modifying the bumper although I am pretty sure I don't have any of the foam pieces under my bumper covers.

Going out there this morning, it appears as if I need to move the physical bumper about 3/4 of an inch upward, anyone else need to do this?

Re: (MNCRXSi)
You will find many people with differing opinions, but I did NOT have to hammer in the metal bumper. There are two locations on the back side of the bumper cover that hit the radiator support. I just took a dremel to it and carved out about a half inch in both locations from the back side of the bumper cover. After a few checks, it fit perfectly!
Fit the bumper on slowly and peak from above to see where it hits. This is MUCH easier than modifying the rad. support!
