Howdy y'all-

I'm new here, but I've been on Import Lounge for a long time. I'm posting because I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer- I already checked the database and searched here, as well.

I need to get some new headlights for my 99 Civic. I can't afford CTR lights, and I hate the chrome look of the stockers- my car is just too dark. I ran across some 99-00 EK JDM SiR headlights on PasswordJDM a couple of days ago for a good price, but there is no photo posted. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between those and the CTRs or stockers?

well in general there are the stock chrome EK headlights which are made by Honda. Then there are the CTR Honda headlights which are the same as the chrome style only the internal housing is black except for the reflectors. Then you have the JDM CTR style knock-offs which look like the CTR's with the internal black housing but cost a lot less. These tend not to have the same quality of fit and finish as an actual Honda headlight and have been known to leak sometimes etc but lots of people use them or will modify their stock Honda Headlights to resemble the CTR headlights by taking them apart and painting the inner housing black.

Real CTR headlights are NOT BLACK HOUSINGS. Theyre a darker grey chrome color. Just something to keep in mind.

They just look like the CTR knock off's I described....check out ebay and you'll see a ton of similar ones on there to the "SiR" ones. Every distributor puts different names on them but they all look the same.

This is correct but it's also why I started my post with the words "In general" when I was describing the headlights that were being asked about.

I'd never even heard of these before- and I've been doing the JDM thing since JDM wasn't cool. Well, it's now not cool again, but anyway.

Well the only SiR OEM headlights I'm familiar with are the stock chrome headlights that come in all Canadian SiR's and US Si's. There never was a JDM EK SiR, only a CTR so find the link if you can, I'd like to see it but that's what I know of "SiR" headlights..

They are the same housing/city light/no reflector as the jdm CTR lights. The ONLY difference is the inner housing on the SiR is factory chrome, while the CTR inner housing is gunmetal. I have had both; they perform in the same way but CTR's are double the price (usually) of the jdm SiR lights.

just go to your local online rice store and buy some knock off CTR's usually you have the option of Flat black, glossy black, or black chrome as the interior molding colors. They also usually all have the city lights hole. other than that they are very close to stock, they are just made with less quality. You can pick up a set for around $120 shipped. or buy a set of stock lights and then search H-T for the DIY CTR headlight thread...

Yes, of course there is a jdm sir ek. There is also a euro version. Its the ek4. ...has the trim on the front and rear bumpers.
SiR headlights are standard chrome housed
No reflectors
No corner bulb guard
No main bulb diffuser
They have city lights (you gotta buy the sockets and bulbs, also wire them up)
They come in both 96-98 and 99-00
Theyre NOT just like the em1 lights
I have them...er had (damn deer) so I just bought another set

to the guys who say the exactly the same as OEM JDM CTR (they are EXCEPT for the gunmetal housing)
to guys that think CTR headlamps are BLACK housings

Like your stock lights just with a city light hole in them from the factory... And no diffuser...
