Default 99 or 00 civic si

I am looking into buying a civic SI but i heard that they changed the emission stantards in the 2000's and they are slower and less powerful. Could anybody tell me if this is right or not.

Wrong. The only difference I can think of right off my head is that the 99's did not have the child restraint clips on the back deck. But definately no power changes.

99 SI: 0-60 in 7.1, 1/4mi in 15.7

00 SI: 0-60 in 7.9, 1/4mi in 15.9

Where are those from?? What parts did they change to slow the 2000 down? I know the motors are the same and I know the exhaust system is the same. I have a 2000 and I know friends with 99's and I have never seen any difference while working on their cars? If this in fact is true I am really interested in finding out about it.

I got those numbers from http://www.car-stats.com im not sure of the accuracy. They get most of there numbers from C&D ,MT and other magazines but some come from the web. So it may not be 100% accurate.

I would think the difference would be in the gearing. The engines are the same and i assume they weigh pretty much the same.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 10cents &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">99 SI: 0-60 in 7.1, 1/4mi in 15.7

00 SI: 0-60 in 7.9, 1/4mi in 15.9
</TD></TR></TABLE>

That is insanely inaccurate. 99 and 00 Civic Si's have very few differences, but are otherwise identical.

00 gets child restraint clips
00 gets cup holder inserts

From reading the Helm's manual, there may also be very few and subtle differences in wiring (as far as small changes in routing only), but I would not sweat it. For buying purposes, the only difference you should consider is the year and maybe the milage.

Uhmmmm, NO.

The only difference is that MR Si's only came out in 99. I think that's right. I know one of those colors was only for one year.

Ok good I was pretty dam sure the cars were the same. Those times must just be because of drivers, conditions, or elevation differences wherever the cars were tested.

I know this is WOT but does anyone know how fast a 95 Talon ESi goes 0-60 and 1/4 mile? Car-stats only has it for a 97 or 98 and its like 8.3. My Talon is a little faster 0-60 than a 200sx SE which car-stats says goes 0-60 in 8 seconds. My car is factory.

Because somebody dicked you over and put some different lights on your car?
I've seen both 99s and 00s sitting side by side and they're identical.

No, MR/EBP/FBP were all available for both 99 and 00 in the USA. Canada had the same colors in 1999, but then dropped EBP in favor of VSM for 2000.
