ok when you take off the valve cover and your looking at the top right valve spring there a hole that leads down to sumwhere. does this lead down to the oil pain? or down to the valve?

I believe its just an oil drain hole....
Allowing the oil to drain back down through the block into the oil pan.

Good job. How big was the bolt???
Small enough to go through the entire length of the whole.
If so, it should not have gotten lodged, and it SHOULD be in the oil pan.

There is no hole in the head itself where oil could lead to the cylinders or on the back side of the valves.
If there was, then every time the valve opened, oil would get into the cylinders. Your friends dad is the one that needs to be slapped.
Just drain the oil, drop the oil pan, and you should see it.
