98 Hatch Trunk Area...
My poor 98 hatch got stolen and stripped about 2 months ago and I've been rebuilding and replacing. I'm stuck though..
1. Where can I find the platform (wood?) that covered up the spare wheel well in the back?
2. Now that it's just bare metal in the back I noticed I have a small hole that's rusted through and I can see the ground through it. How can I fix that? Weld a small chunk of metal?
3. Is the cargo flip-up trunk liner for the back rare or something? Can't find one under $100.

Re: 98 Hatch Trunk Area...
1.For the spare tire cover I would just go buy a piece of 1/8" fressboard/tagboard and cut it to fit your area you need covered.
2. I would have someone weld the spot closed, seal the top with silicon and then undercoat the whole cargo area before you lay down new carpet/covers. this will prevent rust and also help deaden noise.
3.There is not aftermarket option for that so either go without, or buy a new one Unless you're lucky enough to come up with one at a junkyard or CL

Re: 98 Hatch Trunk Area...
I bought the so called "wood platform" from Honda, yeah its a ripoff. $50 for a piece of cardboard with foam padding, you are much better off fabbing up one yourself. And yes, the cargo covers are relatively rare, best bet as stated above just go to a junk yard and try to find one in decent condition

Re: 98 Hatch Trunk Area...
One simple trick I use is:
In the underhood fuse box,I'll switch out the ECU fuse for a bad/blown fuse..
Car will never start, and its hard to pinpont
Cons- opening and closing hood whenever u park.
Also, I suggest layers of security(alarm, quick release, kill switch, wheel lock/boot..etc). Never rely on just one measure.
