98 EX 10k miles 1 owner value?
A older guy that lives close to me has a 98 ex with 10,100 miles. Just sitting in his yard. His plans when he bought it new was to take in on out of town trips and all. Well he didn't end up driving it as much as planned and his daughter didn't end up wanting it so it has been sitting for a little over a year. He new dd is a z06 corvette so he definitely don't care to drive this thing. Down to business. Nada says the car is worth 5900$. He will not come off his price of 7000$. The car isn't up for sale it's just in his yard like I said, but he said 7000 would take it. I just sold my turbo integra for 5000 and I want a more stock reliable car. Do you guys think if I got the car for 6-7000 that it would be worth it? I mean this thing is so mint. The inside of the exhaust still has a polished look with no exhaust residue. He said it I was gonna purchase he would have a complete tune up and oil change performed for me. What do you guys think. It's white in color by the way and is mint.

The value of any car is what it sells for and not an asking price. It is up to the buyer who is willing to pay the asking price. I paid 6500 for a mint condition 2000 ex 5 speed, I am sure some will say "ha, what a rip off" but I enjoyed that car for a couple of months and sold it for 7400. I then applied that money to another civic. Its up to you.

Hey Liloyo,
I wont say DO NOT BUY, but I had bad experience whit purchase like that back in the day.
First of all, I would not believe any one telling my that the car 15 years old had original 10K on it and only sitting for a year... Let say its original mileage, then it was not running for more then 5 years and you will end up with dried up seals and rusted water pump.
I have both 1998 Eclipse GST with 45k miles and end up pulling engine out and replacing all the seals including main seal on the crankshaft... If you have plans for swap, you can get nice shell for 2500 and save your self some money...
Its just my opinion. so its for you to decide!

I would never buy a 14+ year old car with less than one year of driving on it, no doubt this car has been neglected and will cause more headaches that anything.
Everyone wants a 'low mileage' car, but frankly you need to look for a car with CORRECT mileage (anywhere from 8k-14k a year) do this by diving the mileage by how old the car is (my 99 had 151k, that's 11.6k a year, which means my car was driven well and was never 'left sitting'. Also more important are records of oil changes and all general PMs, even if the car has 10k miles, it should have 14 years worth of oil changes and PMs, including the 60k/80k/100k/120 because they're mileage/time based.
Just my $.02, good luck finding a stock Honda, took me 6 months to get my DX!

^I agree with that.
In addition, if it were me I'd probably still go for it. Sure I'd do some sort researching where possible to verify mileage and haggle with the price but mint is mint, that's not something you can find all the time. Just be sure you really LIKE the car. Even if the motor were to take a dump, you can always rebuild or just get another one (or swap to a different series engine if you so desire). This is all relative though, civic engines are dime a dozen where I'm from.
Having said that, if you are just interested in a reliable daily driver in general then I'd recommend looking around. I bet you'll find a better deal on a not so mint car that will serve it's purpose just fine.
