Default 98 Civic CX Tranny...Axles and Reverse Issues...SEARCHED!

Hello,

I just installed a dx tranny today from a 97 civic...the tranny has been sitting for a while with no fluids...it's just been sitting in my storage...well i put it in today...and my driver side axles wont go in all the way...it's still out 1/4 of an inch....which is causing fluids to leak...and it was hard to get in all the gears at first...but after playing with it for a while...it went into gear...but except for REVERSE! Reverse would barely pop in where the light comes on...but when i step on the gas...it grinds...but no movement...please help me...im gonna be stranded if theres no help

Thank you so much in advance.

Try plunging in the axle all the way in.
Are you using the correct axle?

As for the hard shift engaging try bleeding the slave cylinder.

Make sure you filled up the trans completely.

bent shift fork possibly. maybe you fucked up when you put the clutch fork back on (dont see how but possible) or you just got a **** tranny. you definately need to put the axle all the way in before trying to get it into gear or you will chew the teeth off the axle and possibly damage the tranny. AND DONT fill the tranny all the way up, 2.8qts is all.
