97 Honda Civic EX Brake Upgrade?
I'm looking on getting my brakes done and looking to get a decent set.
I was browsing around and noticed, I can use ITR Brake system? It's a bigger brake than the regular 97 Honda Civic EX? Usually on a Prelude, I just need the prelude parts. Supposedly, it's a 11.1" Rotor.
I'm guessing, these are just bigger brakes that are compatible with a 97 Honda Civic EX? They are just bigger so this means better braking.
I'm no expert just learning as I go. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Am I right?
"Bigger, Better Method?"
1997 Honda Prelude Parts for 97 Honda Civic EX
Brake Pads - EBC Yellow Stuff Brake Pads for a Prelude $109.34/pr
Brake Rotors - EBC Sport Rotors for a Prelude $178.72/pr
Brake Caliper - CENTRIC Premium Semi Loaded Brake Caliper for a Prelude $85.58/pr
Brake Lines - StopTech Brake Lines - $60.95. not sure if I will need for Civic or Prelude. If they are the same and doesn't matter? Which brand is better?
TOTAL = $434.59
* I can also get the Rotors w/ Pads $57.79/ea = $115.58 (saves me from spending money on pads? right?)
* Can I put 97 Prelude Rotors on a 97 Civic EX with no problems?
"Cheaper Method" These are still Prelude Brakes.
Brake Pads - With Calipers?
Brake Rotors - BREMBO Part # 09689314 (I think these are 10.96" and not 11.1?. These are from RockAuto.com) 35.79/ea = $71.58/pr
Brake Caliper - CENTRIC Posi-Quiet Loaded Caliper $57.79/ea = $115.58/pr
Brake Lines - Keep the same ones or OEM Honda ones 2x $5.74?
TOTAL = $187.16
What's the best choice I should go with?
I want excellent stopping power and great braking. I want it to last for a while and for it to be worth my money. I do drive the car pretty hard.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read the post.
