97 hatch Heater problems, help!
Well my heater hasn't worked for a while and I have tried everything. I completely flushed the coolant, changed the thermostat (twice first time with aftermarket then with oem), and put a new cap on the radiator. I know it's not the heater core because it is not leaking. I checked the hoses and one of them isnt getting real hot so that is kind of weird (see pic). At this point I am thinking about replacing the radiator? I am about to throw up my hands and take it to Honda, so any help would be appreciated.

If one of the hoses is real hot and the other isn't the heater control valve is most likely stuck shut. It is not allowing the coolant into the heater core, giving you uneven temps in the hoses.

If you are talking about the one behind the dash that changes when you change the climate control then that is not the case because it is switching, if not how do I check what you are talking about?

Oh yeah, it is hot when i first start it and then it cools off. That hose is warm but not hot like the others.

Cold/ Hot switch. Put it on cold see if there is a change, then put it on hot to see if there is a change. If there is a change let me know. Its kind of like a throttle cable but for your heater core letting in coolant to the heater core.

I changed it from hot to cold and watched it and it is switching. Still the same results though....

Oh, ok so I just take the hose off and switch the climate control? Sorry this is the first time I've ever dealt with this. Thanks for all your help though.

Pull off the hose the is not getting hot. (return hose) See if any coolant is coming out of that. If not, your heater core has a block.

Or you can simply put your mouth up to the heater control valve (with it open) and blow through it to see if anything comes out of the return line.

well i ran water through that one when i flushed the system and the water did come back through the return. Maybe I should load my shotgun and shoot it. When I punch my computer that usually fixes it, maybe this will have the same effect .
