97 ex leaking oil
anyone ran into this or have a good guess as to where this oil is seeping from?
front main?
oil pan gasket?
is this something common on d-series?
it leaks about 2 quarts every 3k

Just to let you know, I have the EXACT same problem. I think it's one of the seals around ermmm the crank? I heard somewhere it was common.
Mine leaks over 2 quarts every 3k also, last couple times I changed my oil it had less than a quart left.
Unless it's an easy fix I'll just keep filling it up until I get a swap. It doesn't leak when the car is parked, and it doesn't burn so I'm all good.

I put an after market cam in my '99 EX and I noticed some leakage in that same area. I took everything off again and replaced the cam seal and fixed it. Costed about $7 and about 2 hours of labor on my part. I should've replaced it when I put the new cam in but oh well. That could be your problem.
Hope this helps.

Re: (DSeriesBKilla)
ok after a couple hours today here is what im looking at..its really hard to source it (there may be multiple leaks?)...but i can see some at the top next to the camgear but it might just be getting flung all over the place?....i think im just going to start with the easy two oil pan gasket and front main. Theres really only 3 possiblities right?
front main
oil pan
cam seal
i doubt its comming from the head
let me know what you guys would do in this situation

Re: 97 ex leaking oil (92civeg)
i've had a similar problem with my 96 civic w/ the y7 motor.
better replace all the front seals and recheck torque specs on the oil pan. and if your timing belt is contaminated w/ oil, replace that as well.
its been 5 months, still no leak.
HTH.

Re: 97 ex leaking oil (92civeg)
The cam seal was really no problem. The way I did it to keep from having to fool with the timing belt was that I remover the rocker arm assembly and lifted the cam up on the opposite side of the cam gear and slid it out and then put the cam seal on the cam and installed it in the opposite order. You have to be careful and make sure the seal is squarely in the channel so it won't leak. This first time I did it, it wasn't square so I had to take it all apart and do it all again.
