Default 97 civic hx coilovers or springs?

hello i want to lower my car but i have no idea what to get

i have been told coilovers are bouncy but springs are good but non adjustable
i looked online for skunk 2 springs which were around 150 bucks
but the skunk 2 coilovers were almost 300?

what is better to use on the car as a daily driver?

P.S. i dont no anything about "spring rates" or whatever? what exactly does that mean?

Coilovers and springs are ultimately the same in function if they have the same spring rate.

Just because one is a spring and the other is an adjustable spring doesn't inherently mean they ride differently.

The most important question is your budget and goals for the car. I personally wouldn't touch skunk2 suspension products with a 10 foot pole.

Spring rates are the rate at which springs compress. 250lb/in is 250lbs required to compress the spring 1 inch.

Stock civic rates are ~160lb/in front, and ~80lb/in rear. They're extremely soft.

I'm using 350lb/in front and 350lb/in rear and the setup is probably a bit soft for my 2.5" drop in the front. 350lb rear is perfect, not too harsh. Rear rates dictate more readily the ride comfort of the car. Stiffer obviously the harsher the ride.

The cheapest setup I would recommend is koni srt. ($300) and ground control ($300)

You're looking at $600. Or you could spend $580 on progress CS-II.

There really isn't a quality way to lower your car much cheaper than that. You could get the Koni srt. and a used quality spring like H&R race/sport for about $100-150 and save some money there.

Doing suspension correctly isn't cheap. Trust me you'd rather do it right the first time. I spent $580 on the progress setup, and I love it, the car handles great. But I wish I'd spent the extra money on Koni/GC for $800 or AMR for $1200. I think I'd be a lot happier with a more advanced setup and a lifetime warranty. When you're buying products you'll hopefully be using for years and years the price difference really doesn't mean anything.

Hind-sight is always 20/20.

ok thank you i really appreciate that, for once someone actually helped me and not talked smack about me.
ok, since i will be driving my car daily, i dont want it to bouncy but i dont want it to be springs because i might want to raise or lower my car you no?
im still a little lost about the spring rates, because i dont no what to get now.

so what would you suggest from my budget which is about 200-300 dollars?
as a daily driver, and is a great product to work with thats not to bouncy or anything. i dont no if im making any sense im sorry.

The only reason cars are ever "bouncy" is because the spring rate of the springs or coilovers aren't matched with the appropriate damping force of a proper shock.

I always recommend the adjustability of coilovers because peoples minds change about ride heights.

$200-300? I wouldn't recommend anything. Wait until you have $600 and buy progress CS-II or koni srt. and ground control coilovers with rates you like.

As far as I'm concerned those are the only options below or at $600.

If your budget for your wedding were $1000 wouldn't you rather wait 2-3 months and spend $5,000?

It's your car. It is ideally supposed to keep you safe on the road. Don't botch the suspension.

Used Eibach or H&R springs and get some decent shocks like Koni Yellows or KYB AGX. Used springs can have for $50 and if you can't find used adjustable shocks, then better off to get them new. 2" lowering springs are perfect for DD.
