Default 97 civic ex steering wheel shake at 60 mph

my friends gf has a 97 civic ex coupe. i just replaced both her cv axles because they were at the point of snapping. pretty bad. i bought 2 new ones from oreilys autoparts and installed them. well she now says that driving home from work on the highway her wheel shakes and the car pulls to the left at about 55-60 mph now. car drove fine with no speed issues before. think its a good guess that maybe the drivers side axle is bad although its new? i hear it happens alot with new axles.

Possibly, I have it happen with both Autozone and Advance axles. I would just make sure all your bolts are tight from the repair and if all is ok swap the axle.

You may need a wheel alignment after replacing the axles.

i dont see how...why would axles affect alignment? tie rods were untouched and the car is sitting on stock suspension.

Maybe the alignment had been adjusted for the bad axles and the new good axles require a different alignment. An alignment is recommended after replacing an axle (see step 12 in service manual below).

installed the new brakes and noticed the drivers front tire has a big dent in the rim. she had to hit a pothole pretty damn hard to bend the steelie lip like that.

You definitely need a alignment and maybe rebalance your wheels. That dent on the rim can really affect the balancing of the tires, 60mph+ shaking.
