Icon2 97 Civic EX Coupe Wheel/tire setup

Hello guys, this is my first post here, been reading the forum for a couple of weeks trying to learn as much as I could, and I still messed it up...

Here is my situation, I just lost my sister, and a month before her passing, I had helped here pick a car, right when she got it we talked about making some changes to it since it was stock. I ended up keeping the car, and decided to carry on with our plans of making some changes to the car.

Now, I ended up going with the Skunk2 Pro-S coil overs, (Yes, I do know is not a first choice for most).

Then it came time to pick a set of wheels and tires, after some reading, I saw that the most popular size tires for my car would be the 205/45/R16 (I was planing on ether 16's or 17's) so the tire were picked at that point, I ended up picking the XXR 530 on gold, and I though I knew what the perfect size would be, 16x8 +20...

Well, I found out the hard (And expensive ) way that this is not the best combo, when I put them on, I had to raise the coilovers to the "max safe allowance" according to them, and since the tires were hitting the inner fender I added some preload to the springs. It seems to me like I have two options, one, to get some new tires on 195/40 and use them on the same wheels I got, to, I could get some new wheels 16x7 +35 and use the tires I already have. I guess the third option could be just to work the fenders so that maybe I can use what I have (Is that possible?)

I'm planing on rolling the fenders some time soon, and all control arms are stock, and I do not mind some negative camber, but I do not want nothing extreme, I have some what of a heavy foot, and I'm in NY (close to Manhattan) So the streets are not the best.

Sorry for making this such a long post, but I wanted to give as much info as I could, I really appreciate your help, I've been trying to make up my mind on what to do now, but do not want to mess up and get something else that will not work as needed.

no matter what your going to have to roll and pull those fender and buy adjustable chamber for those size rim to work.

here are your option (meaning your already have roll, pull your fender and got adjustable chamber)

1 lower it more for a stance flush look if you don't mind a few degree of negative chamber just to where the outer wall of the tire look flush with the fender.

2 slamm that thing for for the hellaflush look (not recommended) but an option!

3 sell those 16x8 and get proper size 16x7 rims with offset 40 reuse them tire and call it a day.

my vote would be 1 since you already have the rim and you won't be able to get your money worth back so just get yourself some adjustable chamber, a heat gun, and a rubber mallet and do a diy fender roll, you won't be that low for the street, in between track low and slam low and you won't have that much of a negative chamber to worry about maybe a few degree but nothing to extreme like Hella chamber since you mention a little negative chamber is not your concern.

When I bought my 16x8's, all i could find were the +20's

I went with a +25 and used 205/40's. Since Im not a fan of camber, I used a camber kit (buddyclub)
theres only 15mm difference from a +40 which is what I was looking for.

Also, since im not a fan of beinng slammed, I still have a little gap.

IDK where you got the tires, but going to a 205/40 will give you more wiggle room with less sidewall.

Heres mine. I have fenders rolled also and i have 0 rubbing:

If you havent rolled on the tires, you can get a refund and choose something else. If you have, then you can do what the poster above said.

When your going low and using wider wheels, the OEM radius sizing of the tires get thrown out the window. You will have to compensate for your drop, suspension travel and steering.

Thank you so much for your help guys, this has been driving me crazy for days now, I'm almost thinking I will get some 16x7s and ether try ti sell the wheels, now, if I were to get new wheels, would a +35 wheel work with the 205/45s? Or should I stick with +40? I have not rolled the fenders yet, and might not be able to do it till winter is over.

Id run +35's on either 7" or 8"

Im not a fan of thick sidewalls, but its your car. do what you like.

Would any of those rub with the fenders not been rolled, using the 205/45/16s I already have, and with the amount of drop I have now? (See last picture on the original post), thank you.

At this point, I'm just trying to do what I can, with what I have, and get "the perfect setup" later...

I'm in White Plains, so just 10-15 mins away from the BX...

What are the specs of those wheels? And are the fenders rolled? And excuse the noob question, when you say that you have front and rear camber, you mean you have the camber kit, or running with negative camber?

Edit: just saw the fender rolled

I believe the rims are 16x7's let me do some more research and yes I have camber kits on front and rear. And I really don't know the off set on the rims.
I got my fenders rolled by a friend out here in Texas

Thank you guys... I guess what makes sense as of right now is just to get me a set of 16x7 +40 (maybe +35) and just get rid of the stock wheels (2 are bend and one tire has a screw close to the edge) and run the tires I already have, and ether try to sell the gold wheels, or get tires for it and make them fit later... Gonna go down to the Bronx tomorrow and see what I can find out there.

Yep, that is where I'm going to... Now, would I be able to run a +35 wheel? (I already know +40 is the way to go)

I don't know... Good thing about the BX is they'll probably going to put them on the car and see what it will look like

I was gonna take the wheels in my jeep on set... But I guess it would make sense for me to take the civic with me.

If your going to keep the tires, then stick with +40

Well, got new wheels (For the second time), 16x7 40, and now I'm trying to sell the gold wheels, if they do not sell, I might get me a set of 195/40's and try to slap them on the car.

I plan on dropping the car another 1/2 inch and putting on spacers on the back once I roll the fender (10mm).

Here is a quick cell pic I just took (Tried taking one of the full car, but it was a bit too dark for that):

Is not my final set up, I just went with what I was able to find, I really wanted to get rid of the stock wheels and tires since 2 were bend, one had a screw on the edge, and they were rusty.

Now I came to find out that the caster on my passenger side is way off and hopefully the problem is the lower control arm that is a bit bend ( I have the new one coming in the mail, and it will be here tomorrow but will not be able to get it installed till next week). Got new lower, upper and lower ball joints.

They're hitting because they stick out past the fender and whenever you hit uneven road the wheel is hitting the **whole fender edge, not just the inside, my wheels did the same thing before i cambered them. I have 205;s on my hatch, 16x8+25 offset, with -3 degrees of camber and they hardly rub at all, i wouldnt change them if youre planning on rolling the fenders anyway. I'd take your load off the fenders with camber first and then fix any extra rubbing by rolling the fenders.

It isn't, I noticed that after getting the last set of wheels, I have the UCA, LCA and lower ball joints coming, I really hope the problem is just a bad LCA...
