Default 97 civic d16y7 misfire

Hey guys, I've been working on my honda myself for a few years, but this one has me stumped! Hen the motors cold, it wants to stall out, when it warms up, its misfires on cylinder 4 (I think the one all the way to the left) and sometimes 3 and 2, if I hit the gas lightly it accelerates okay but if I press it hard you can hear the misfire. After about 15 mins of driving no matter how soft i touch the gas it doesn't want to accelerate.

I changed the spark plugs, wires, one of my friends rebuilt my distributor with one from a 99/00 (the connectors didn't match so e used the wires from my old distributor), one of my other friends gave me an intake manifold (I switched over the throttle body and all the sensors, he said the sensors he gave me worked fine he just did a y8 head swap) I also replaced the head gasket this morning and nothing!

Codes it's telling me on the scan tool from auto zone is 1399,1304,1303,1302,1300,135 and 141.

PLEASE HELP ME! I don't know what to do anymore and neither do my friends. :'(

And when I did the head gasket I torqued it to spec 14lbs,then35lbs,then 49 lbs, also googled the correct tightening sequence

Is that the top one or the bottom one? And before all the misfires one of my o2 sensors was already bad. And this all started with my radiator cracking! It started to overheat so I turned it off and filled the radiator with hot water. My friend said the head might be warped or a cyl might be cracked or the gasket could have broke, but when I had it opened the valves sealed fine I didn't see any cracks in the cylinder and the head isn't leaking so it's probably not warped right? and I used nail polish to mark the timing belt so I know the teeth are in the same spot.

Maybe the antifreeze soaked to o2 sensor and fried it so now I'm misfiring? Ugh I don't know so many possibilities! It's just starting to get expensive and frustrating now :/

the one at top, the first one...

dont buy a new one just try one that works, cause i am not sure if this is the cause for your problem.

the ecu codes are showing 02 malfunction...

at first try to unplug the sensor and start the engine. if it runs ok then i am sure is the 02 sensor

i dont believe you have antifreezer leak from the gasket..

This happened three weeks ago, it didn't heat up all the way as far as I know, but it was like 80% up the gauge when it usually sits at 50%, since then I jb welded the crack and I've left it running for a few hours no overheating, just misfires and drops in the idle (I assume from misfires)

i want to believe that no problem with the nternals of your engine occured.

just try to unplug the 02 sensor and turn the engine on.

if problem fixed than you definetely need a new 02 sensor.

most ecu use a default voltage for the 02 sensor if its unpluged so they can work without the 02 sensor connected.

I unplugged both sensors and started it, let it run for 10 mins for the first time since I did the head gasket, now it's stalling when it gets warm!

i think you sould try a working 02 sensor

also you must try an oem working distributor...

Holy crap, how about we try diagnosing things before we point any fingers?

First off, OP, the #4 cylinder is all the way to the left, nearest the distributor. #1 is nearest the timing belt.

Second off, when you did the head gasket, did you re-use the original head bolts, or did you replace them with new?

Third off, diagnostic tests: You need to buy/borrow/rent a compression tester, as well as a spark tester, and use them both. There are DIY/How-To's in the FAQ's sticky, as well as all over the internet if you search.

I did a compression test, all cyl came up at 180lbs, did a spark test against my headers and they were all sparking. My friend said when he hooked it up to the actual spark tester that it looked a little weak but not to where I should be having this problem and the bolts are new something about tty

It's weird because they all misfire except for cylinder one which seems to fire on point, every time. Never even saw 1301 code pop up once.

What color was the spark? That's what matters here.

Then your spark is too weak, and you need to properly diagnose the distributor. Do you have a voltmeter?

Assume it reads voltage through wires to see what it pumping out?

And the spark is supposed to be bluish white. Anything else is weak spark.

Well, either buy one, or find a friend who knows what a voltmeter is and how to use it, and have them follow this diagnostic flow chart.
