96 LX D16y7 -> D17a1
Last thread.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2082310
Thought I would drop in a see if there is any new info about a swap like this.
Quote from old thread
My wife has a 96 LX 5 speed with 160K on it.
It is a Dog even compared to other cars with the same engine. I would like to swap it up to a newer low miles engine so I am thinking a 02 ish D17 from a DX or LX, I have a guy that buys at the insurance sales so picking up a entire car for the swap should not be to hard.
the hard part: I have searched for info on this swap and can not find anything, I know that normaly everyone goes up to the higher HP engines, But I just need a good road car with high MPG.
Any threads or info on this swap would be great.
Thanks
MN
PS I have full Tools, Lifts, Garage, air and have pulled, replaced and worked on cars a good amount.

you cant find anything because that is an odd swap and i dont think anyone makes mounts for that swap either...just throw a b16 in there and be done,its a fairly easy swap also

Re:
No need for a new thread... should have just bumped the last one.
The gist of it is that the complexity would be along the lines of putting a K20 in your 96. It can be done, but 2000+before and 2001+after are different beasts.
The final outcome would be probably more headache than it's worth. A B16A or a B18B is cheap enough and plug and play with just dropping it in. Plus, those engines have more power. Maybe you want to reconsider your options.
