Edit: Stuff deleted. Not sure about the d15y- designator, except that some 2000-2005 Civics have it, and around 1000 web sites, with varying authority but it seems almost surely erroneously, currently mention it for pre-2001 Civics.

www.bkhondaparts.com confirms the part numbers are different, and the prices are way different, with the EX oil pan being almost 3x the price of the DX oil pan.

you wrong man
96-00 civic all came with a 1.6L engine.
dx/cx/lx came with a d16y7
hx came wth a d16y5
ex with a d16y8.
The difference is that the EX oil pan is made of aluminum cast and the DX is metal. It should bolt on if the bolt match

LOL that's pretty funny. Notice how the first half of the thread says "NooOoOoO" and the second says "YeSsSsSs"

But to confirm, yes it will fit as long as they are both a D16.

Then the following site and a bunch more like it are messed up: http://www.superhonda.com/tech/honda_engine_codes.html

Wikipedia says what you say for the sixth generation Civics. Other sites also say the DX is 1.6L

Guess the OP should post the engine code stamped on the block.

The Y7 and the Y8 use the exact same block (aside from the stamp), therefore it's not entirely unlikely that the oil pans are interchangeable.

Yeah, they are. all north american 6th gen civics are 1.6L All of them

CX/DX/LX -> D16Y7
EX -> D16Y8
HX -> D16Y5
Si -> B16A2

There are some 1.5L 6th gens overseas however.

The reason they're different part numbers is because the Y7 one is steel, and Z6 and Y8 are aluminum. They're interchangeable though.
