Default 96 civic question

i got a 96 civic
the guy i got it from has a obd1 hardness
should i keep the hardness or get a obd2 hardness??
did he have to cut and Splice Wires to make the obd1 harness fit on the obd 2 hardness???
or should i just keep the obd1 hardness and convert it to obd2 with that
OBD1 TO OBD2 wiring they sell on some websites???

It depends on what you plan to do with the car.
