I just bought a 96 Civic LX. Four door manual with 166k miles. Power everything, CD, cruise, AC, only minor flaws. Had to put a new battery in, couple dents, pain chipping on trunk lid. I paid 2000 for it, think i got a good deal?

What i was wondering is my last car was the 92 Integra that you see as my avatar. One of it's only virtues was beatiful throttle responce, however my new civic's throttle feels like stepping on a slug. It's hard to press at first and doesn't do much, then just kind of gives in all the way. Plus there is only probably 1-2 inches of travel. Or it at least feels like alot less than i am used too. Is there any way to change the feel of the pedal?

well you went from a dohc integra at 140hp to a sohc civic at 109 or so. that might have something to do with it.

try lubing up the whole length of the throttle cable or if your pretty lazy and have some extra cash layin aroun buy a new one from your local junkyard

and the hp is a deffinite difference

i was down there lookin the other day and i notice the bracket the pedal is attachted to is flexing quite a bit. The bolts are all tight, is this normal? should i replace the whole pedal and wire assembly? how difficult is that with going through the fire wall?

you could replace the mounting bracket for the pedal and get a new throttle cable ($30 from dealer). while your in their clean the trittle body. sounds like it is sticking. pull the trottle body off and spray the heck out of it with card clean and use an old tooth brush to clean around the t body butterfly. i have the same motor in my hatch. changed out the throttle cable and cleand t. body in like an hour and a half. (i work slow). the techs at my work can get it done in like 45 min.

sweet, do you know, does the cable come lubed, or do i have to do it. and if so what kind of lube do i use?

it should come pre lubed and if your unsure then ask a tech at the dealer your buying it from

this job sounds easy enough and if you really want it easy leave the TB on the car and buy seafoam or carb/choke cleaner and just take your intake off and spray it all on the TB and that will also clean your IACV at the same time

is the throttle cable just straight through the firewall to the pedal mounting, or does it require taking the dash apart?
