Default 96 Civic EX - will not start

Hello

I have a 96 Honda Civic EX

For some reason when I go to start my car it will not start. So I went back to the fuel pump turned on the key let it prime then unplugged it and my car started right up? While it was running i tried to plug the fuel pump back in and it shut off. It will NOT start with the fuel pump plugged in. Any ideas?

That doesn't sound right at all. So when you REMOVE the power to the fuel pump, the car still runs?? If so, you've got an electrical issue going on and the pump is still getting power. It's impossible for the car to run without the pump pumping fuel to the engine.

I know it sounds impossible but I gotta let the fuel run into the engine then unplug it I cant drive it or anything its just running off that bit of fuel that went in. Any clue where to even start...?

I use to have the same problem...
after I checked all of the wires running from the main relay and fuel pump, I found that the ignition switch was bad.
....check the ignition switch

I would try to turn the car on then try to listen to the fuel pump buzz.... if u hear it then it's not the main rely or fuel pump. it could be something electrical.
