96-98 CTR climate control help
Ok, here's my situation...I already have the climate control installed in my ex coupe, everything is in working order except the rear window defrost switch. The female end thats on my car will not match up with the male end on the new switch. The two ends are completely different. I am assuming that this is because this control was designed for a ctr hatch and I am installing it in my coupe. Can someone verify this? If so, where can i buy the necessary parts to complete my conversion? Has anyone else done this converison to his or her coupe? Was this straight up plug and play for you EK owners? Every bit of help that I can get is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Vic

I wish it was that simple, but there's one problem, bro...the placement of the USDM & JDM switches for the hazards & defrost are placed differently in the JDM control...USDM hazard is replaced with the JDM defrost & vice versa with the USDM defrost....You, know since a CTR is RHD (it all makes sense). well, the worst thing that can happen is that you will have to do it manually, by that, i mean strip 5 of the wires, make a connector for them, and connect each wire to the JDM defrost button. sorry if i'm not clear enough, but hope u find a better way

Yea, I was thinking about doing it that way, but it seems like it is very time consuming....I will probably end up doing this if i can get no other suggestions or tips.

Ya, I've tried to take mine apart, it's a pain. Don't see how to do it without breaking something. Don't have an EK or I'd verify for you...

Thats what I thought, the switch looks pretty solid. I dont think it is possible to take it apart either. But yea, I hope I can get an answer about the EK hatch harness...Thanks for looking out bro, I appreciate that you would take the time to help me out (even tho u dont have an EK)..thats cool in my book. -Vic

are you asking if the coupe and hatch have same plugs? if that's what you're asking, they do. 96-00 coupe and hatch dashboards are interchangeable (sedan too probably).

It is entirely necessary to use the JDM switched because they switches are shaped slightly different that the USDM ones and will not align correctly in the JDM climate control.

OK guys, I guess I am going to have to wire the JDM switch manually without a harness since it seems like a JDM harness will be hard to come by. Thanks alot for your inputs and help. Now it's time to go and play with a soldering gun, some wires and connectors...wish me luck..lol. I will keep you guys updated on how it turns out and will post some nice pics of some night time shots of the amber lighting once its done. JDM blinging, baby.
