96-2000 civic roof console....installed pics....review..
I recently purchaced the japanese domestic market ek civic upper roof console. I purchaced this HONDA OEM piece from http://www.jdmspecperf.com new in a box for the price on their site. Let me say that it was a a smooth transaction, the part was shipped that day, and I recieved it in about three buisness days, so for them. The part was new from honda and was in an unopened package.
<U>Installation tech:</U> ....for tech purposes
The upper roof console was an option offered in japan for the non sunroof civics. The part mounts tightly with the rear view mirrors three screws, no modification to the usdm civics at all, no cutting, just removal of the mirror, and reinstallation of the mirror with the console attached. The piece is a perfect fit, it sits up in the headliner snug with no movement at all, and with this I was happy.
<U>Review</U> ...personal review
The part is very unnecessary, in fact I may never use it. It just sits there and unless you are like me, you shoulnd't even bother.
I am fruit for interiors. I am more worried about the comfort and creature features than i am the exterior anyday. I like little compartments, and places to put/hide my stuff, so I thought I would give this a shot. Also there was a post a week or two back about this, but no one had tried it.
The part is a small two compartment roof mounted console that fits flush up against the headliner, and consists of a sunglass holder, a large compartment in front, maybe for a cell phone, or garage door opener, or whatever, and it has a little clip that holda letters, papers, etc.
Like I said, it is a nice novelty/enthusiest item, that was never seen in the states-and I found that out for a fact....here are some pictures....enjoy!
here is it from afar, it is about 2" thick by 7"wide by 8" deep
here is a center shot- looks nice where it sits, color scheme matches nice
another shot of it closed-
front compartment open
rear sunglass compartment open-there are my glasses
ok, I guess this is for letters? papers, buisness cards? or just nothing
So there it is, no big deal, and for the people jumping on the "jdm=rice" bandwagon, feel free to flame. But I like it, kinda like a conversation piece.
.....stay tuned for <U>"HOW TO: 1.6 EL/honda domani a/c control bezel"</U>
Coming soon....

Can you still turn your visors toward the doors? When I put mine on there wasn't enough clearance to swing them past the console. I'd lose the stickers on the console if I were you, IMHO
