Front Bumpers

'96-'98 Civic coupe/hatch/sedan (only differences is the grille, which is interchangeable)

In order to swap the bumper you must also use a '96-'98 front bumper, grille, fenders, headlights and hood. If you're going from a '99-'00 front then you will have to change or modify your core support.

'99-'00 Civic coupe/hatch/sedan (only differences is the grille, which is interchangeable and the Si has a standard front lip which was optional on the other coupes and can fit any '99-'00)

Rear Bumpers

'96-'98 coupe/sedan rear bumpers are the same. '99-'00 coupe/sedan rear bumpers are the same. There is a difference with the bottom of the rear bumper (which looks slightly different and can affect fitment of rear lips and mudguards), but all '96-'00 Civic coupe and sedan rear bumpers are interchangeable.

'96-'00 hatch rear bumpers are the same. They are shorter on the sides than the coupe/sedan rear bumpers and cannot fit on a coupe or sedan. A coupe or sedan rear bumper also cannot fit on a hatch.

So if i have a 00 hatch and i need to replace JUST the front bumper, i can get a coupe or sedan bumper and use the grill i have from my hatch?

The '99-'00 grilles all fit the same. You can use a coupe, hatch or sedan grille. The sedan grille has more fins inside it and has a chrome shell. The Si coupe uses a color matched grille shell and mesh inside (instead of the fins) with a removable H emblem. The other coupes and hatch grilles are the same. You can use any '99-'00grille on any '99-'00 Civic, but the grille shells cannot be mixed and matched with the inner grille section.

Yes, you can use a '99-'00 coupe or sedan front bumper on your '99-'00 hatch.

Rear '96-'00 hatch bumpers are different from the coupe and sedan rear bumpers. Fronts are the same for '99-'00 coupes, hatches and sedans.

you dont have to change the Rad support just cut the hangers on the rad support. The actual rad support is the same.

Sorry to revive an old thread from the dead, i was googling modification for bumpers and ran on this thread. Just to verify what i read, i have a 97 hatch, and my friend has a 96 hatch with a blown engine but 9.5/10 interior/exterior. I was going to buy parts off him. Definitely interior pieces, trim, handles, seats, etc. But want to make sure front and rear bumpers from his 96 hatch to my 97 hatch?

just confirming what i read, not like there are hundreds of other forums that will tell you different. why should i assume this is 100% on par and not ask questions? do first, ask questions later? nah, i dont like re-doing things multiple times if not needed, nor buying things that dont fit. thanks for the help....

why is it that the rear bumper is compatible with no modifying, but the front bumper is not? Im only going from a 96 hatch to 97, same engine, same trans, everything.

thats COMMON KNOWLEDGE. everyone learned it as a young kid... i hope. Not all cars are common knowledge. Especially coming from building a jeep, to building a honda. If something doesnt fit on your jeep, you can usually cut and weld it up. Its different building something with all steel and indestructible parts and meant for offroad use, then it is building a car for street purposes and to go fast and look good.

i want this car to not only run good, but look good, making sure im doing it all right.
