Default 96-00 Civic: Why are #74 replacement gauge cluster bulbs loose?

Hey guys and gals,

I recently changed my gauge cluster bulbs since the old ones were faded. However, the #74 bulbs I bought to replace the old ones are very loose when I try to install them where the old ones were. They stay in place and do work (hooked up the cluster to confirm). However, I'm worried if I hit a bump they might come loose and eventually fall out. Anything I can put on them so they fit more snug? Thanks in advance.

Where did you buy your bulbs? Are you sure they're #74's?

Mine bulbs fit just fine when i did them.

Thanks for the tip. I should have known this, been a member here since 02' (under a different name, forgot the password). So, I do apologize.

98civdx, I bought them from superbrightleds.com, just changing them to white leds since it's a clean look and cheaper than buying the replacement bulbs from local stores. They are 74 - 12v bulbs according to my receipt and package they came in.

Just wondering if there is anything safe that I can apply to the bottom wedge of the bulb, obviously I won't be covering the metal part.

I don't know of anything. I woulnd't want to put anything in there, for the odd chance it gets too hot and begins to smoke/start on fire.

Sorry, I really have never heard of this issue. Have your tried contacting super brightleds.com? It's possible they screwed up and put the wrong bulbs in.

#24's will fit, but they are smaller, and I could see this issue happening with those.

you can bend the tabs on the bulb holder with a small screwdriver, or dab a small about of hot glue to hold them in.
