96-00 Civic Scarebird brake conversion write up.
Very, very nice write up, I didnt even know this existed. I might just do this instead of going with a Complete Rear Disc Swap from a 99-00 Civic Si.
Now, I read the whole thread, but I wanted to get some assurance so I know I buy the right things from the get go if I decide to go this route. The Swap will be done on my 1997 Honda Civic CX Hatchback, so this is the parts list I need, correct?
- Scarebird "CIV" Bracket
- 99-00 Civic Si (or 95-01 Integra) Rear Calipers
- 99-00 Civic Si (or 97-01 Integra) Rear Rotors
- 99-00 Civic Si (or 98-01 Integra) Rear Brake Pads
- 99-00 Civic Si Master Cylinder
- 99-00 Civic Si eBrake Cables
- 99-00 Civic Si (or 96-01 Integra) Rear Brake Hoses & Brackets
- New Spindle Nut
I got the above info by comparing OEM Honda/Acura Part Numbers, so that's how I got those specific years - although I'm pretty sure I can use any 9.4" Rotor and any 7CLP13S Caliper and corresponding Brake Pad (right?). Anyways, Is there anything else I am missing on the list?
Oh and I will be able to use my current Proportioning Valve and my Brake Booster since they are the same as the 99-00 Civic Si (according to OEM Honda Part Numbers) due to my Car being a 1997 Honda Civic CX Hatchback.
Well looking forward to a reply, thanks in advanced!

If I remember right the 2/3 door share the same prop valve/brake booster as the Si, but not the master cylinder. The 4 door does not have the correct prop valve or master cylinder as the Si, but the brake booster is correct. Hope that helps, if not check out slhondaparts.com to cross reference the part numbers for yourself. As for your other question (do you use the same hub? and if so how did you secure the rotor to the hub?). Yes, reuse the stock hub. The rotor will be held in place by the caliper and wheel.
The only items needed for this swap are:
scarebird bracket
rear rotors from 92-95 Civic Ex/Si..94-01 Integra...99/00 Civic Si
calipers
pads
e-brake cables from 92-95 Civic Ex/Si..94-01 Integra...99/00 Civic Si
rear brake lines from 92-95 Civic Ex/Si..94-01 Integra...99/00 Civic Si
A new master cylinder/booster and prop valve is NOT needed to do a rear disc swap. This has been gone over many times. 92-95 Civic Ex/Si come with 3030 prop valve so 4040 is not needed...and Master/Booster is identical to non 92-95 Ex/Si civics

Just got my parts in, looking forward to doing the swap. I am glad this DIY was posted though since there are no instructions included with the kit.

Nice! Now I won't be such a stickler on a full disc car, and I can save money there on the next project. I'll just do this conversion.
Not to threadjack, but if anyone wants a pair of these, I got a set that were ran for 3 days (practically new) for 100$ shipped.
Also, I make a rear adapter to use 11.1" rotors, and soon to have one to use the 10.2" rear brakes (but won't be making one that can take the stock 9.4" like this). I made some that put the rear NSX calipers on, but will probably not be making them for the public (yes a drum to NSX caliper adapter)
Again, great thread, very nice pictures, and exceptionally detailed write up. Lets get this in the FAQ thread of course.

Cannot PM you. Hit me up if you are still making these. Thanks
Thank you so much
Here nearly two decades later to say thank you for this and thank goodness for the photos still being hosted correctly.
