95 civic, starts doesn't run
Starts but doesn'trun. As soon as u let go of the key, to relaxed position (on) it shuts off. If held past on, it runs. I've replaced one on a 93 accord, bought it from autozone for like $90i think. I was hoping that the civic has the same set up. I changed it in like 15-20 minutes on my accord

This is simply relay/ignition switch/fuel pump food in that exact order.

Re: 95 civic, starts doesn't run
The ignition switch has a removable (clipped) large gauge wire and internal mechanism inside the ignition switch ran to an external box down by the kick panel. They occasionally go out. This is what I replaced but cannot remember what this was called nor how much it cost. Talking to auto zone they do not know what it is that im speaking of either, tho thru research on one of these online forums I learned/ was able to troubleshoot my problem... this is for a chicks car im helping out.

Re: 95 civic, starts doesn't run
Update: went and looked at autozones photos of the 2 different models... on the accord, it has a seperate ignition switch, but on the civic its a complete unit, cannot be disassembled. So the civics admission switch is way more expensive. Too bad for her.

This peice you explained here is what I meant ignition switch,
I have seen so many go out in the past it's stupid,
I have seen a 95 accord and a 93 civic go out the same day in the same driveway no joke.

This happened awhile back, seems to be common. If you have to keep the key forward to have your vehicle running and when you let it go the vehicle turns off then replace the key cylinder "steering lock" portion of ignition switch assembly. Can be found on ebay at reasonable prices. Hope this helps
