94 Honda Civic LX/Speedometer shows faster
I just recently bought a 94 Honda Civic LX. The speed limit on most street in my city is 35, but it seems like when I'm going 35-40, cars are passing me and it truly feels like I am driving a lot slower than normal. When the car gets to around 45 is when I feel like I'm at the right speed. I definitely don't have a lead foot so I know I'm not losing my mind. Any ideas on what to do?

Honda speedos of that period are notoriously inaccurate. Mine was 5 mph slow at 50 and got progressively worse as the speed went up. I corrected this by installing a Yellow Box by YellR. It allows you to make minute corrections to the VSS signal. Costs about $120 shipped from Australia and you'll have to do some splicing to get it to work. But it works very well...I've been 90 and confirmed my speed was dead on with my GPS.
If you don't feel like spending the cash or dealing with an installation like this, you'll just have to live with it.

PS, the gas gauge reading is all over the place too.

I concur both my 97 and 99 civics are in that 3-5 mph range too. It get noticeably worse the faster you go.
