Default '94 Del Sol, worth the price?

I'm selling a car and looking for something a bit better. While shopping I've come across a '94 Del Sol Si 5 speed. Don't know how many miles are on it, I talked to the guy on the phone and he says there is some hail damage, but the car is really clean. They're asking $3500, but I think I could get it for around $3000. Any thoughts on this? Replacement OEM hood and rear deck, what would those cost? Does anyone make a carbon fiber rear deck? Anything in particular to look for if I go see this car? Thanks.

@ the engine. look for any leaks around head gasket. drive the hell out of it if you go for a test drive. I guess that's a fair price. it really depends on mileage, cond. of car. If it is the SI, be careful...make sure vtec is working properly

From what I've found today, in '94 they made 3 trim models of DEL SOL, the S Coupe, The Si, and the VTEC. Therefore the Si shouldn't have VTEC correct? The Si has 125hp, the VTEC has 160hp, the other is like 102hp. Am I correct with all this?

check to see if the roof seal package has been done..the roofs were leaky as hell before this fix was done. you can tell if there are little nipples on the top/sides near the windshield..

Thanks, I just assumed the SOHC engine would be non-VTEC. I'm kinda worried about going to see the car with the hail damage, but if it brings the price down then I'll be happy. I don't want a show car anyway, basically a daily driver. My current daily driver is a '91 Accord EX auto, nice car, just not what I want.

check the clutch feel. im guessing that u've driven a manual before, so if it feels laggy or slow to rev then u're going to have to get a new clutch. be able to use it as ammo to bring down the price. but, when i am buying cars, i always listen to the engine. how does it rev, sound, feel. you know all the basics. about being a chick car- chicks will love the car and then they will love him. instant pimpishness del sol's are fun cars, especially in the summer. top down, all three windows down= lots of fun

Hail damage can drop the price significantly..... My car had some hail damage estimated at over 2k ...
Just depends how bad it was and how big the nicks/dents are... but better to replace with aftermarket parts or used parts then to have the dents removed....
Also insurance covers repairs for hail damage.... so that's probably why the price is lower/more reasonable for the car....
good luck...

What are you talking about ???

The Si, and the DOHC Vtec are two different models.
Some people and dealers get confused between the two because
the Si also has vtec.... and the Honda dealers call the DOHC Vtec model
the Vtec model, when in fact both have vtec...
sometimes you just have to clarify to the dealer that you are talking about
the DOHC Vtec instead of the Sohc vtec...

93 had the S and the Si (sohc vtec) models available...
and 94-97 had the S , Si, and Vtec (DOHC Vtec)....

Take care...

Thanks for the information you all have given me... well actually just thanks to the people who gave me correct unbiased information! haha I know cars, I know cars very well, I've had a lot of them, so knowing if a clutch feels good or if the engine sounds good is a non issue, I just wanted information on the Del Sol. As for being a chick magnet... I'll talk to my wife about that. Anyway, you're bound to find out sooner or later why I really want this car, the real reasn is that I just want a targa top so that I can drive down the highway and get beside a tractor trailer and pop the top out like I'm about to make some heroic rescue of a friend, ala TFATF.
