Default 93 Honda Civic SI - No Brake pressure.

Hey,

I just recently removed calipers and rotors. Got rotors turned and painted calipers. I reassembled everything. I used a pump bleeder on all 4 corners and system is full of brake fluid. When i get inside I have pedal pressure when car is off when I turn car over there is virtually NO pressure at all. I went around checked all feed connections and bleeder valves to ensure a snug fit. I also went around to all four corners and re-bled lines still th3e same thing. ANY help??!!??!!

Thanks in Advance!

possible your pedal was depressed with lines off? may need to bench bleed m/c

So how long were the lines left open for while you painted and resurfaced the rotors?

Ok so I got so photos posted of the job. The yellow paint that was on car was old and a crappy job done by a young me soon after I first got car in high school. I am restoring the car so I want to do things right. I think this is a much better job than before. However last time I didn't undo any brake lines so no need to bleed system. As far as the bleeding process is concerned - the car sat for a week or so with no brakes on it at all (while i was working on them). I then reconnected everything and installed new brake lines on the front both sides. I filled the MC reservoir up and started to make my way around the car using a vacuum bleeder made for one person. I would pump up vacuum open bleeder valve until hardly no bubbles - then close bleeder - then remove vacuum. Keeping an eye on MC reservoir making sure to top it off between every corner. I kept lid off of MC reservoir for entire process and when I got into car to pump pedal for pressure. The pedal feels fairly firm when car is off like right after brake job. But when i turn car over/on the pedal has virtually no firmness. I just dont know since the brakes were off the car for so long I imagine the MC drained completely. Would that be the culprit did the natural vacuum within MC mess up?

1. remove master
2. bleed master
3. profit

Read up on my thread about bleeding brakes. If you get roughly an 8 foot piece of brake hose, i can teach ya how to bleed the car without removing the MC and ensure ya there is no air in the system.

Cool pics, nice lookin brakes, like a bright copper color, also known as orange.

you need to remove the master as the rod from the booster can't push it far enough to get out all the air, this is why you bench bleed

I dont think you fully understand what bench bleeding is. Its not some big secret or even anything hard.. you fill up the resovoir with fluid and push the piston in it a few times to get fluid circulating inside the MC, while its off the car. how far do you push the piston in there dude? if you read my thread and bleed the car that way, i guarantee you all of the fluid will get out of the system.

Brake Expert - Thanks for the kudos on the calipers I like the color a lot and really took time in refurbishing them. Seems to be why I am in this predicament with a bunch of air in the system leaving it open like that. I am willing to try your method with the 8 ft section of hose as the thought of buying even more brake fluid just to throw it away doesn't sit well with me. It does seem a little laborious though. Would you still recommend this method over just removing and bench bleeding the MC then replacing and bleed each corner?

Thanks,

Also, since the brake booster is vacuum powered I am guessing that this is why I have no brake pressure when car is "ON" as opposed to a good bit when car is "OFF" that the brake booster is assisting when car is ON and vacuum is powering booster.

Well today I removed MC and was going to bench bleed and it looked pretty crappy with brown nasty old fluid so I bought a new MC and bench bled it. Then went around and bled entire system looking good so far. Got a couple of pics i'll post just as a learning tool for those in need.
Thanks Guys
