93 EG - DRL and dash sensor specific to Canadian models?
Hi, I was curious on everyone's thoughts on their Canadian built EG's. My dad's got one with daytime running lights and a little sensor on the dash. Supposedly, only Canadian models came with this, correct? It's an EX auto.

Canadian built has nothing to do with Canadian market. Most of the '92 - '95 hatchbacks and coupes were built in Alliston Ontario, even coupes sold in japan were built there and then shipped over, they were just built to JDM specs. Similarly my '94 sedan was built in Japan and then shipped to Canada, its built to Canadian specifications. All that said yes we got DRLs over here and most models didn't have airbags.

I have a 92 EG, and if by sensor on your dash you mean what looks to be a dimmed down version of the high beam signal, then yes, we have it.

Oh, you mean how the High Beam indicator is dimly lit in the gauge cluster? Funny - I've never really thought of it like that as an "indicator" ... But, yes, I suppose it's ON in the cluster because the DRLs use the high beam filaments to run... only it's really dim, because the high beams are only running at like ~20% or so of their normal brightness. I guess the same is true of the cluster indicator bulb. Makes sense now.
I always treat it as an "indicator" of when I should be turning on my headlights as dusk approaches. You can start to see it as evening sets in, and that's when I know it's time to flick on the lights.

My eg is white with poo brown interior, from canada ...
nothing special about my canadian model, that everyone else doesn't have; especially their crayola crayon named poo brown, because this interior is ugly (but still much more appealing than ur mum)

So for the late update. It has a "light pickup" sensor on the dash. At least I think that's what it is. I'll have to snag a pic. Interesting info nonetheless.

A sensor that sees light vs dark to turn on the lights maybe? Hell, I don't know. Now I have to find out. Lol.
