Default 93 coupe with gsr swap running rough

So I probably already know the answer to this but I wanted to ask any way. I have a 93 coupe that i just swapped in a gsr with stock ECU, OBD1. Everything is complete except I dont have an exhaust for it yet. But I wanted to start it up just to see if it ran and recheck fluids. When I started it up with just a stock exhaust manifold and on it, It was loping and stalling out real bad. I'm pretty sure its because no back pressure. But its killing me waiting around to buy an exhaust to find out if it smooths out. LMK, what you think.

Ya I'm throwing codes definantly because of the lack of O2 sensors. I did replace the timing belt and water pump before putting the swap in. I did think last night that maybe I was off with the timing belt when I put it on. I pulled the valve cover and checked the cam gears and they were synced up but is there a way to check timing without a timing light?

no you need a timing light to check the timing. its gotta be 16 degrees +/- 2 did you have a everything at tdc when you put your timing belt on? ohand get your 02 sensor.

I set everything to tdc when I did it. I'm looking for an exhaust now and will have the O2 sensors hooked up at that time.
