93' Civic DX, temp fix brake light in dash
First post, happy to be here.
Need to take my 93 Civic to E-Check station this year to get my tags. Never a problem, we do this every two years in certain counties in Ohio. I'll pass the emissions part. However, the brake indicator light has been lit up for a while now and they won't even run the test if it's like that.
Now I know that I need to get the brakes worked on (rear brakes are shot). Right now I need to find a way to disconnect the power to that light. I'd like to hook up a bullet connector inline so that I can plug back in when the test is done. Short term solution but I need to get my tags/registration renewed.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Would hate to have to remove the dash. Found a few diagrams here for the plugs coming off of my cluster. Looks like the A9-green/red wire powers the light.
Thanks,
Matt

How hard is it to get at the cluster? Pull right out of the dash? I've never had to mess with it before.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just printed out a few diagrams from here and pulled the brake(9) pin out of the A 10 pin connector that plugs into the back of the cluster. Bam! No brake light on the cluster.
Now I just hope the numb nut at the E-Check station doesn't realize that the light isn't lit when he engages the e-brake.
