I replaced my rear pads and had a hard time getting the drums back on. I had to minimize the star adjuster all the way down and even then, it was still a tight fit.

They are the same style pads as what was removed and put on the same way as the original pads, so now how do I go about making adjustments to the star adjuster as even adter bleeding the pedal still has quite a bit of travel compared to before?

make sure the lenght of the new shoes is the same as the old, if it is a bit different there is your problem. I have done many of these and had a problem one time with being sold the wrong part. Best way to do it is to start from the zero position on the adjuster, then test the drums for fit. Then remove the drums and play with the adjustments until the drums do not rotate too free but can still be taken out.

The pads were identical, exactly the same but even with the adjuster all the way in I had a hard time getting the drum back on. I had to open the bleeder so I could comnpress the pads all the way in.

There's friction when rotating the drum (as if they were alreay adjusted). It just seems like the adjuster needs to be expanded in order for the adjuster to sit in place better.
